Ross Lower School Puts on a Holiday Concert

DSC_1705 In a final festive tribute to the season, Ross students in grade pre-nursery to 3 presented a slate of holiday tunes to parents and older schoolmates on December 19. Dressed in their finest, the young musicians put lots of energy into their performances, inspiring good cheer on the penultimate day prior to the school’s Winter Break.

Pre-nursery, nursery, and pre-kindergarten students joined together to sing “This Little Light of Mine,” “Burn, Little Candle,” and “We wish you a Merry Christmas.” They closed out their segment with a medley of bell-related carols comprising “Bells Are Ringing,” Mozart’s “Ring, Oh Ring, My Little Bell,” and seasonal standby “Jingle Bells.” With enthusiasm, the children accompanied these songs with bells of their own, and the audience was invited to join in the final chorus of “Jingle Bells.”

The kindergarten class followed the Early Childhood group by singing “Hanukkah” and “Feliz Navidad,” with the students’ pronunciation of the latter helped by Spanish teacher Tiffany Best. Next up were first graders, with “A Million Little Snowflakes”; second graders with “Lend a Helping Hand”; and third graders singing “Dreidel Song,” for which some also played xylophones and shakers. Finally, grades 1–3 came together to sing “Rock ’n’ Roll Snowman,” a song so popular that the classes were called on to perform it twice!

The show was pulled together by LS music teacher Deanna Locascio over her mere five weeks of tenure at Ross. After the engaging and entertaining production, students were dismissed to celebrate the holidays in their classrooms with their friends and parents.
