From Seeds to Harvest

On and off campus, Ross Lower School students have been exploring some big ideas. Studying life cycles, seed germination, and the patterns, rhythms, and cycles of living things provokes questions like, “What is a beginning?” and “What is change?” A hands-on experience can put some of these concepts in context for younger children, so several classes (including some Buddy class pairs) have ventured out on educational wagon rides with Farmer John of the Milk Pail Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Field this month. After their rides, students gathered apples and pumpkins to take home and dive into the best part of the cycle—the eating of the harvest!
