Students Receive Teeny Award Nominations

East End Arts recognized the theatrical talents of four Ross students, nominating them for Teeny Awards. Modeled after the Tony Awards, the Teeny Awards celebrate talented high school theater students on the East End and parts of eastern Brookhaven. Through the Teeny Awards program, East End Arts works to promote theater education by encouraging increased attendance and community pride at school productions.

Senior Denise Mulenga received a “Teeny” nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her performance in No Dogs Allowed. Sophomore Aubrey Jowers and junior Maria Popova were nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama, respectively, for their roles in The Sin Eater. Sophomore Solomon Polshek will be recognized for his work as Stage Manager in the same production. Both of these productions were presented at last year’s Fall One-Act Plays.

The 11th Annual Teeny Awards Ceremony will be held at Southold Junior-Senior High School on Sunday, June 9, at 3pm, the same day as the Tony Awards!
