On March 15, the seventh grade performed Julius Caesar in the Senior Building Lecture Hall as part of their unit on ancient Rome, which integrated English, cultural history, and performing arts.
Performing Arts teacher Gerard Doyle and English teacher Carol Crane helped the students with the dramatic portrayal, which featured two abridged performances, one from each section of the grade. The students dressed in white robes, with rope around their waists and gladiator sandals—the attire in ancient Rome. In addition to acting in the play, the students made gnocchi with Café Sous Chef Brand Fibkins and took a field trip to New York City to explore the Rome exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
On the Ides of March, the Café prepared a Roman-inspired menu, complete with dates, salami, barley salad, artichokes, roast chicken with pomegranate sauce, glazed red onions, gnocchi with butter and sage, steamed peas, sautéed cabbage with poppy seeds, and roasted tofu with fennel.
