Ross faculty, staff, and students achieve many accomplishments throughout the year both on and off campus. This month, we’re recognizing Theater Director Gerard Doyle for another audiobook distinction as well as several students and alum whose artwork, design skills, musical talents, and mathematical prowess have earned high marks. Gerard Doyle Ross Theater Director Gerard Doyle’s audiobook Inheritance was named a Young Adult Library Services Association’s (YALSA) Amazing Audiobook for Young Adults 2013. It was also given the distinction of being one of their Top Ten audios on the list.
SCMEA Music Festival Participants The following students have been selected to represent Ross School in the annual SCMEA All-County Music Festival in March: freshman Katherine Morgan, trombone; seventh grader Elizabeth Dombrowski, alto; sixth grader Valentina Monsalve, soprano; eighth grader Sami Habib, cello; and seventh grader Nickolas Swanson, double bass.
Graylen Gatewood and Andrew Davis Seniors Graylen Gatewood and Andrew Davis have been recognized for excellence in photography at the Parrish Art Museum’s 2013 Student Exhibition. Each student submitted pieces they completed as part of their Senior Projects.
AMC Qualifiers The results are in for the American Mathematics Competition. Top Ross School scorers were Chris Lee on the AMC-12 and freshman Katherine Morgan on the AMC-10. The other top finishers were freshmen Nate Dombrowski and Sarah Kay Stewart on the AMC-10 and sophomore Jeong Ho Ha and junior Yifan Zhang on the AMC-12. The three students who achieved the highest score on the AMC-12 have qualified to take the American Invitational Mathematics Examination in April. Students who score highly on the AIME are eligible to qualify for the highly competitive United States of America Mathematical Olympiad.
Thomas Impiglia Ross alumnus Thomas Impiglia ’04 participated in the Stockholm Furniture Fair from February 5–9. He was invited with a colleague to design and build a unique line of furniture to be shown with a select group of young designers in this Scandinavian furniture design and light exhibition.
