Concert Celebrates Festive Spirit

The celebratory season is well under way, and students in grades 6, 7, and 8 honored this festive spirit with a Holiday Concert for parents, faculty, and staff in the Court Theater on December 13.

The String Orchestra—on violin, viola, cello, and bass—began the evening with “Promenade,” “The Great Gate of Kiev,” and “Burgundian Carol (Sing We Now of Christmas).” The members of chorus followed with “Sing dem Herrn” and “Carol of the Bells.” Guests then listened to the melodic tunes of the Concert Band on flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn, trombone, and percussion. They played “Bell Carol Rock,” “Angels in the Bleak Midwinter,” and “At the Feast of Stephen.”

Finally, Stage Band, on guitar, drums, piano, and bass, brought the performance to a close with “Feliz Navidad” and an original tune, “Fire Hydrant,” a rendition of “Heart and Soul” by Ross eighth grader Aaron Kresberg, which he composed when he was 10 years old.
