Blending Art and Mathematics

Ross parent and East End artist Christine Sciulli invited the third graders to her studio to observe her artwork and discover the basic geometric shapes within that work on November 30. The students interacted with different abstract installations—from large cylindrical sculptures to wire woven like a web—and noted the various lines, circles, and planes in each piece. Upon returning to their classroom, the students sketched how the experience made them feel and what came to mind when they were in the studio.
