Lea Abrams Selected for “Teacher of the Future”

Cultural history teacher Lea Abrams, of the Ross Lower School, has been selected as one of 21 Teachers of the Future by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

The Teachers of the Future program is designed to allow innovative teachers to share their expertise in teaching with technology as well as their individual creative teaching techniques. Educators throughout the United States were selected based on their demonstrated excellence in environmentalism, globalism, equity and justice, and/or use of technology.

Throughout the 2012–2013 school year, Lea will lead an NAIS online educational discussion forum on the topic of her choice and create a demonstration teaching video to be posted on NAIS’s online independent school community as well as featured on the NAIS channel on iTunes U.

Both excited and surprised by the nomination, Lea is looking forward to sharing her thoughts on education and building connections. “I like the idea of networking with educators and developing relationships with people in schools all over the country,” she said.
